Installation

There are two ways to install the WEM Mobile Map on your Windows CE device.

  1. Download Installer from our website.
  2. Received a file called "MobileMap.CAB" from one of our beaming stations at the mall.

Downloaded Installer

The program, MobileMapSetup.exe, uses the standard Windows PC based software installation process normally used to install software onto your PocketPC through an established partnership. After reading the "README" file and agreeing to the "End-User License Agreement", the software will setup and launch ActiveSync's Add/Remove Programs application.

File Size:350K

After retrieving information about your PocketPC, the Add/Remove Programs application will ask you if you'd like to use the default installation directory. In order to insure that the WEM MobileMap system will work properly, you must use the default installation directory.

Now that your WEM MobileMap is installed, you can launch it.

Receiving a beamed MobileMap.CAB while at West Edmonton Mall

While visiting West Edmonton Mall, you can obtain a fresh copy of the software and data by beaming the map and data to your Windows CE device. Beaming stations can be found at the Visitor Information Centre (located just east of the Ice Palace), or at Guest Services (located north of the Ice Palace across from the Galaxyland entrance).

Once the beaming process has commensed it will take a few minutes to beam the application and databases to your PocketPC. Once the beaming process has completed you will find the CAB file in "My Documents" using the "File Explorer". Windows CE will hide the ".CAB" extension so all you'll see is as show in the image below.

Tapping on the file will start the installation process. A dialog windows will appear showing what files are being installed.

If you had previously installed a version of the WEM MobileMap on your Windows CE device, a dialog window will appear asking you to confirm the re-installation. There is no harm in re-installing a newer version. When you are prompted to "replace existing file", click on the "Yes to all" button.

Once the installation process has completed, Windows CE will automatically delete the file.

Now that your WEM MobileMap is installed, you can launch it.
