You’ve seen them swimming, jumping and dancing in West Edmonton Mall’s Marine Life pool and now you can get up close and personal with Pablo, Clara or Kelpie. Get wet with, swim, touch, train and learn more about our California sea lions during an exciting, interactive Sea Lion Encounter – the only program of its kind in Canada.
During a West Edmonton Mall Sea Lion Encounter you will meet one of our sea lions and have the opportunity to: learn from one of our Marine Life trainers and then apply that knowledge working with the sea lion; play games with and get splashed by the sea lion; and enter the water to swim with and be towed by your new friend.
Marine Life’s California sea lions have been educating and entertaining Mall guests since they arrived at the Mall from Scotland in 2004. They are friendly and fun and enjoy interacting with people. Program participants say West Edmonton Mall’s Marine Life Encounter is truly an “experience of a lifetime.”
General information:
- Sessions are available Thursday through Tuesday.
- Wet suits, booties and life jackets are provided. You only need to bring your swimsuit and towel.
- Participants must be at least 14 years of age.
- Participants are encouraged to pick up or download a copy of the required waiver (Adult Waiver | Minor Waiver) and review it prior to your session. Minors require a signature from a parent or guardian.
- Cost is $149.95. Payment must be made at the time of booking.
- Participant’s guests may watch and take photos from the grandstand.
- Participants will meet their trainer at the Marine Life Information Centre. If the centre is closed when you arrive, please wait there and the trainer will come for you.
